Meditation, Silence and Creativity
Creativity, it has been part of my life I have a creative nature and an intuitive soul and most of my life a spent working on the creative path, both personally and professionally.
I have been practicing meditation for more than two decades now. My first real contact with it was in college in one of those classes that you take just for the credits. But it slowly became more a more a part of my day-to-day life.
By using meditation for creativity, we can calm the mind to create the stillness and clarity that then allows us to access our creative inspiration, giving it the space it needs to float to the top. That’s precisely why it seems like our most creative thoughts often surface as we’re doing nothing, during a contemplative walk in nature, or in the middle of calm vacation time. Because our preoccupation with the stresses of the day or the busyness of mind drops away when we unwind and relax, creating the conditions for creativity to flourish.
I Don’t Know What To Do!
The remedy’s not to push through or attach yourself to achievements but to move with curiosity through life, openly and without judgement, moving with wonder as a baby does.
The first step is to allow your mind to be quiet and to tap into your intuition. What is it that calls you? What comes naturally to you? Pursue that. It’s about what flows through you without effort. When we recognize this we’re able to go towards our destiny and use the gifts that we have naturally.
On the right path opportunities come without machinations or contrived effort.
Give yourself time to rest, restore and be creative. Let go of preconceived ideas, templated responses and peer pressure. Then things will begin to flow. Empty out in order to be full. You may begin to see things differently.
Eventually you might even open to an insight, but don’t push for it.
